What is a Vidal needle used for?

A Vidal needle is a fine, professionally sharpened point used to gently pierce the surface of a closed comedone (whitehead) before extraction. This allows the contents to be removed with less pressure and less trauma to surrounding skin. It should only be used by trained professionals.
