Care & Sterilisation

To keep your STALEKS nail scissors in top condition:

• After each use, wipe the blades clean with a lint-free cloth and rinse under running water.

• Disinfect with a standard instrument disinfectant. The Classic series is not rated for autoclave or dry-heat oven sterilisation.

• Do not use acids, alkalis or abrasive cleaners on the blades.

• Apply a drop of instrument oil to the joint pivot once a month to keep the stroke smooth.

• When the blades dull, have them resharpened by a professional instrument sharpener.

• Store dry in a case or pouch with the blades closed, away from humidity.

About This Series

The STALEKS Classic series offers reliable, well-constructed instruments at an accessible price point. Classic tools are manufactured from stainless steel with manually sharpened blades and a GOI paste polished finish for corrosion resistance. The series is designed for home care: dependable everyday tools that are easy to clean and disinfect with standard chemical agents. The Classic line is not intended for autoclave or dry-heat sterilisation, which makes it best suited to personal use rather than clinical salon cycles.

FAQs

Should I use nail scissors or nippers?

Nail scissors are ideal for trimming and shaping the free edge of the nail, particularly for fingernails. They follow the natural curve of the nail plate, giving a clean, controlled cut. Nail nippers, by contrast, use a lever-action jaw and are better suited to thicker toenails or precision cuticle work. For general nail shaping and trimming — especially for children or at home — quality nail scissors like the STALEKS Classic or Beauty & Care range are a practical and safe choice.

Can STALEKS scissors be sharpened?

Yes — STALEKS scissors can be professionally resharpened. The Classic and Smart series are factory-sharpened to a high standard, but after extended use they can be returned to a professional instrument sharpener. The Beauty & Care series is designed and priced for home use; sharpening is possible but not typically cost-effective. If your scissors feel like they are dragging or folding rather than cutting cleanly, resharpening will restore performance. Never attempt to sharpen scissors yourself with a household sharpening rod — this can misalign the blade geometry.

How do I disinfect CLASSIC series scissors?

Clean the blades after each use and disinfect with a standard instrument disinfectant. The CLASSIC series is designed for home care and is not rated for autoclave or dry-heat oven sterilisation. Avoid acids, alkalis and abrasive cleaners, and dry the scissors thoroughly before storage.

How do I choose the right blade length?

Blade length affects how much of the nail edge you can trim in a single cut. A 21–24mm blade is a medium length that suits most nail correction tasks on adults. Shorter blades (around 15mm on micro scissors) offer greater precision for detailed work or for use on children's small nails. Choose a shorter blade for precision and control, and a medium blade for general nail shaping. All STALEKS nail scissors use manually sharpened blades, so cutting performance is consistent regardless of blade length.
