Care & Sterilisation

Keep your cuticle scissors performing at their best with these care steps:

Sterilisation: Autoclave-safe up to 134°C. Compatible with dry-heat sterilisation ovens and standard chemical disinfection solutions.

After each use: Wipe blades clean and dry thoroughly to prevent moisture buildup.

Weekly: Apply a small drop of instrument oil to the pivot screw to maintain a smooth stroke.

Storage: Store in a protective case or pouch. Never leave scissors loose in a drawer where blades may chip.

Sharpening: Have scissors resharpened by a professional tool service when cutting precision declines. Do not attempt to sharpen at home.

About This Series

The STALEKS UNIQ series challenges traditional scissor design with two groundbreaking innovations. The Ballerina models (SQ-10) are the longest scissors in the entire STALEKS PRO range — their elegant, elongated handles become a natural extension of the technician’s fingers. The Asymmetric models (SQ-20, SQ-30) introduce the world’s first asymmetric multi-level finger rings in manicure scissors, enabling technicians to explore diverse grip styles and cutting techniques with a single instrument. For those who value ergonomic innovation, UNIQ is unlike anything else on the market.

FAQs

How do I sterilise Staleks cuticle scissors?

It depends on the series. STALEKS professional cuticle scissors (Expert and Smart) are autoclave-safe up to 134°C and compatible with dry-heat sterilisation ovens, and can also be disinfected with standard chemical solutions used in professional salons. The Classic and Beauty & Care scissors are home lines: disinfect them with a chemical instrument disinfectant only, as they are not rated for autoclave or dry-heat sterilisation. Always dry instruments thoroughly and apply a drop of instrument oil to the pivot joint before storage.

When should I use cuticle scissors instead of nippers?

Cuticle scissors are ideal for trimming thin, delicate cuticle tissue with a controlled, sweeping cut along the nail plate. They offer finer control for detailed work around the proximal nail fold and are preferred by many European-trained technicians. Nippers are better suited for thicker cuticle growth or when you need to snip small, isolated sections. Many professionals keep both in their kit.

What is the difference between classical curve and hook-tip scissors?

Classical curve scissors have a gentle, uniform bend along the entire blade length, following the natural curvature of the cuticle line — ideal for smooth, continuous cuts. Hook-tip scissors feature a patented Staleks innovation where the blade tips curve inward to follow the shape of the lunula. This provides a more complete cut around the cuticle without needing to reposition the tool, and gives excellent visibility of the cutting area.

What is the difference between EXPERT, SMART, and CLASSIC cuticle scissors?

The EXPERT series uses AISI 420 steel with 48-55 HRC hardness and hand-sharpened blades — the top choice for experienced professionals. The EXCLUSIVE series adds microscope-level sharpening and premium magnolia design. The SMART series offers professional-quality instruments at a more accessible price, ideal for daily salon use. The CLASSIC series provides solid, reliable scissors for home care and everyday use. The UNIQ series features innovative ergonomic designs like the Ballerina and Asymmetric models.

How long do Staleks cuticle scissors last?

With proper care, regular sterilisation, and periodic oiling of the pivot joint, Staleks cuticle scissors maintain their cutting edge through years of professional use. Most technicians report 1-3 years of daily use before needing resharpening, depending on the series. Keep the blades clean and dry between uses, and store them in a protective case to prevent damage.
